For centuries, tea has shaped landscapes and geography, cultures and traditions, destinies and desires. This Lunar New Year, embark on a new journey through tea and time with the Green of Fujian Tea, a blend of exceptional green teas from a remote garden on the celebrated Tai Mu Mountain of Fu Ding in Fujian Province. Fujian (福建), auspiciously known as “happy establishments”, symbolises an abundance of success and prosperity in the Year of the Ox.
With over 1,600 years of history as a tea-producing region, Fujian was immortalised in the Tang dynasty Cha King manuscript where author Lu Yu recorded that tea grew in Fujian south of the Five Ridge Mountains, in Fuzhou, Jianzhou, Shaozhou and Xiangzhou. Because of the outstanding savior-faire in this region where teas are grown at a high altitude of 1,000 metres, this rare green tea was commissioned in limited quantity exclusively for TWG Tea. Boasting precious, downy and pale-green leaves with a delicate and extremely refreshing infusion, this limited-edition mélange is marvellously buttery with natural hints of honey and night-blooming jasmine. Rich in tea polyphenols and vitamin C, the infusion yields notes of wild woodland berries with a zesty aftertaste of cedarwood – a tea that offers a balm for body and soul.
Green of Fujian, $76. Available from February 2021 at TWG Tea Salon & Boutique located at 1070 West Georgia Street in Vancouver.
